Inspiration

We wanted to know what was in the food we're eating to try and live a healthier lifestyle.

What it does

It analyzes the nutrition label and ingredients of a product and tells the user what ingredients are harmful. It also gives a rating from A-F on how healthy the product is.

How we built it

We used FastAPI to communicate between the front and back end. We used ClaudeAPI to help read the nutrition labels and analyze the ingredients. We used React and Tailwind to build the front end of our website.

Challenges we ran into

We had difficulty communicating between front end and back end. Additionally we had issues learning how to use React and Tailwind as it was our first time using it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Trying new frameworks such as React and Tailwind.

What we learned

We learned how to use new frameworks and gained more experience working with different types of APIs. Additionally, we gained more experience setting up a server.

What's next for Flipit

We want to try and see if we can just use a photo of a meal and have it return possible harmful ingredients and alternatives.
