Inspiration

FlipAround is a small idea inspired by the "Digital Wellbeing Experiments" from Google that says ideas and tools should help people to find a better balance with technology.

By saying that, this is a POC app that brings the real world into the game to make the players move around instead of sitting in the same place and indulging in it. Let's have fun with our phones, Instead of playing in the virtual world, make a flip, move, and go around in the real world to solve the puzzle.

What it does

This simple 3X4 puzzle board is placed on top of the camera view where we have to move around to identify each item in the real world and capture that to solve the blocks in the puzzle, as mentioned in the inspiration section slogan "Bring your real world into the game and go around"

  1. Install the game from the play store
  2. Open the game
  3. Tap the puzzle block to know what is behind in it
  4. Go around and capture it in the camera to solve the puzzle

and finally, we can meet Mr. Flippy. :-)

How we built it

  • As I have to bring the real-world objects into the game, TensorFlow and machine learning are used to recognize the object.
  • Flutter packages are used to design the wonderful responsive simple puzzle board.

Challenges we ran into

As I explored machine learning concepts newly for this project as well the efficient way to integrate the same with Flutter is made a little harder as I newbie. But all the flutter articles and community references made my day and helped me to bring the idea as a mobile app "GoAround"

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am very much proud that people using this FlipAround game no more gonna simply sit with phones in the same place. We Flip and Go Around!!!

What we learned

This opportunity enabled me to learn about Flutter concepts, animations, and especially a few areas of the wide vast technology of machine learning with Tensorflow.

What's next for FlipAround

It's just a POC, long lists in the backlog. As the next steps:

  • Make much more interactive with VR and AR
  • Enable Bluetooth pair mode, so multiplayer can play together and slogan can be extended as move the people around and bring the people together. :-)
