Flip Cards
Inspiration
Cards Against Humanity, Jackbox games, and every setup-punchline joke that ever landed in a Reddit comment section. Reddit is already full of great one-liners, wordplay and riddles (r/riddonkulous wooh!), time to add a fitting but simple format. With FlipCards, the flip is the punchline delivery.
What it does
Flip Cards turns Reddit posts into a two-sided card. The front asks, teases, or sets up - the back delivers. Tap to flip. That's it, and that's the point.
Redditors can author their own card right inside the post: write a front, write a back, pick your colors, and it publishes as a brand-new post under your username.
How we built it
Flip Cards is a Devvit app (Reddit's developer platform) with a Vue 3 + Tailwind v4 client and a Hono server, all TypeScript in a shared-types monorepo.
A card renders with zero network requests. The front and back are baked into the post's postData at creation time, no loading spinner, no init fetch, nothing. The server has exactly two endpoints: one to create a card, one for the moderator menu. That's the whole backend.
Challenges we ran into
- Making authoring so frictionless that reading a card and writing one feel like the same gesture.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Community and Redditor focus rather than the Tool/App itself.
