Inspiration

We were inspired by interactive web dashboards like the game "Krillion" and Carbon-footprint trackers across the web.

What it does

Our web dashboard tracks the carbon emissions of a flight from one airport to another. It also bases its estimates based on the number of passengers and their cabin class.

How we built it

FlightPath was built using HTML, CSS, and Python. We also used generative AI to assist us in debugging, writing code, and during the design process.

Challenges we ran into

As beginners, we had a lot of difficulty working GitHub and VScode. There were many times we were confused about branches, repositories, and we didn't even know what those words meant. (Still don't!)

Accomplishments that we're proud of

In the end, we're really proud of our design, concept, and demo video, as it fully showed the passion behind our idea.

What we learned

After building this project, we feel much more confident in our ability to use VScode, Github and other technical tools, and we're also more skilled in our ability to vibe code and use AI as a tool to bring our ideas to life.

What's next for FlightPath

In all honesty? We're probably never going to look at it again.

But that's not really a bad thing. FlightPath was a learning opportunity and a way to voice our opinions and create something we felt that would be helpful. Its future lies in every project we undertake from now on.
