Inspiration

2.5 years after the initial release of the Amazon Echo, there was still no skill that allowed you to easily and reliably track a flight's status. A few skills have attempted but based on the reviews and testing them out, none of them really actually work.

What it does

Flight Tracker will give you the latest flight status for a given flight departing on the day that you make the request. All you need is the airline name and flight number and Alexa will tell you the flight information. For example, you can say: "Alexa, ask Flight Tracker for United 262."

Currently supported airlines are:

  • Alaska Airlines
  • Air Canada
  • American
  • Cathay Pacific
  • Delta
  • JetBlue
  • Southwest
  • United
  • WestJet

What's next for Flight Tracker

Based on the logging in CloudWatch, I will track the airlines that are being tried with the skill and continue to add more airlines based on the popularity. Also checking daily for new errors/bugs and fixing those on a rolling basis
