Inspirations
We created this game because we like playing games. Because the topic was "into the skies," we wanted to create a sky themed game with a little twist. The default setting of a sky themed game is, of course, an airplane. However, that seemed a little too lazy. So, we also put in a twist, inspired by some movies we've watched.
What it does
Our project is an interactive story game with different endings that depends on what you choose. It follows a pilot (Hairy Poters) and a very interesting day in his life. It gives the player a few difficult decisions to make that may ultimately end up deciding whether Hairy lives or dies. It's very easy to follow and to use.
How we built it
First, we wrote down the story we had planned for the game, including all the alternate endings. Then, we entered the entire story into Claude to generate a basic story. Then, copilot helped us write the code. We had to do a lot of debugging, organizing, and rewriting.
Challenges we ran into
There was a lot of trouble with debugging and weird objects. It's difficult to animate through code, as this was our first time. Ultimately, after a lot of tries, we could overcome these challenges easily.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Honestly, coding this game within 24 hours is pretty cool. We spent a lot of effort on this project. We're especially proud of the graphics. Although it's limited, it wasn't too bad for the amount of time spent on it.
What we learned
We learned how to plan and code a game efficiently. Originally, it seemed like a daunting task, but as we progressed on the project together, it was pretty fun. Also, we learned how to vibecode better.
What's next for Flight07?
Because of time constraints, the graphics and amount of possible endings were heavily limited. We would love to improve on the animations (such as the walking of the NPCs), the art (replacing the blocky bodies of the NPCs and the backdrop), and increase the amount of possible endings from only around two distinct endings to a bigger variety.
