Inspiration
As college students, we have many tasks to keep track of and habits we wish to maintain. As a result, we thought that a habit tracker in the theme of this hackathon (campfire) would be useful.
What it does
Flicker habits gives you your own personal campfire to take care of. You can keep the flame alive by completing tasks which feeds the fire. If you don't complete your daily habits, your fire will be extinguished.
How we built it
React frontend with Firebase for authentication and for a database.
Challenges we ran into
We had a difficult time incorporating Firebase into our project as we have not implemented it in a project ourselves. Additionally, we had to refamiliarize ourselves with React and its syntax.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the time-based habit component of this project. This gives an incentive for the user to complete their tasks in a timely manner which should help with productivity.
What we learned
This project taught us a lot about the usefulness of Firebase, with its ability to handle user accounts and store data.
What's next for Flicker Habits
We want to improve our animations for a better user experience, specifically how completed habits are put into the campfire. Additionally, we want to make changes to the interface regarding how the user views and removes completed tasks.
