Inspiration
Out of all items in your dorm, how many do you use on daily basis? For me, 30% is an overestimate. Flea Market is the solution to make the unused items valuable again.
What it does
Flea Market is, like the name suggested, a second-hand product database built exclusively for U of R students. It allows people to sell items they don't use anymore for a price and buy second-hand products at a discounted rate.
Key features:
- User Authentication (in progress)
- List products to sell
- Browser available products in the market
Key Benefits:
- Saves money and energy wasted in shipping
- Save the human resources wasted in the Campus Mail Center
- Reducing the amount of trash student creates: Your garbagy could be someone's treasure. Don't simply throw it away!
- Earn some extra pocket money back!
- Buy things you need at a discount rate!
How I built it
I implemented the Room Database and Recycle View in Android Studio
Challenges I ran into
- Room Database @Dao was not working; Couldn't figure out
Accomplishments that I am proud of
- Provide a sustainable solution for the UR community!
What I learned
- There's a lot of details to take care of when building the app.
What's next for Flea Market
- continue adding features like user authentication, search by category and improve the design and user experience
