Inspiration

We were inspired by the easy use of dating apps such as tinder and wanted to create the same for food. Some times it's just impossible to decide what we want so we wanted to make that decision a bit easier.

What it does

Flavor Match has a stored database of restaurants in the RTP area that can be easily filtered and saved based on the user's preferences. The user can create a curated list of there restaurant likes and dislikes to help them decide what they are in the mood for. If that still isn't enough they can take a chance and have our generator pick a liked restaurant for them.

How we built it

Angular: Frontend framework for building the user interface. HTML/CSS/TypeScript: Frontend technologies for creating the user interface and implementing interactivity.

Challenges we ran into

At the start of this project, we struggled with the setup of Angular and its dependencies. I'm sure as other coders have experienced we ran into the problem of spending too much time going down the wrong paths, but even those are good learning experiences.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the final result because there were times when we thought we couldn't reach our goal. We love how clean the front end looks with our customized graphics and logos.

What we learned

During our time hacking, we learned a lot about coding in a group and were able to develop our communication skills. We also learned more about the different ways the implementation of Angular can be used besides the ones we learned in class.

What's next for Flavor Match

We'd love to learn more about connecting Flavor Match to the cloud and getting live geographical, time, and other data on restaurants to improve the user experience and make Flavor Match usable outside of the RTP.
