Inspiration

Last month, we met up in San Francisco for a four-week trip ✈️🌉 Exploring the park, walking on the beach, soaking in the sights and sounds of the neighborhood… There were so many beautiful moments that we wanted to cherish, ones that we wanted to remember even after we said goodbye.

Hence, Flashback was born! 🎇 Flashback was conceptualised based on our personal experiences – an expression of friendship between creative souls, a place to store all the wonderful memories we made 💌, in a style that’s unmistakably us. To create an app that feels both human and true to ourselves, we hand drew all of the landing page and avatar icons, based on cozy and cute aesthetics we both love 🌷💖The interface is simple and intuitive, so that your memories take centre stage.

What it does

Flashback is a cozy, scrapbook inspired memory logging app for friends all over the world. It’s simple, cozy and fun ✨ – all you have to do is

No matter the distance between you and your squad, create fun and meaningful connections as you share memories anywhere, anytime!

How we built it

For tech stack, we've used HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Firebase for storage and authentication. The landing page and avatar assets are entirely hand-drawn on Procreate, then formatted in Figma.

Challenges we ran into

It's been hard to pull this project in a really limited time-frame. We wanted to create a more interactive landing page with animations, but it fell short due to the time.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We felt that we really conveyed our cozy 🍡 aesthetic and who we are really well, so this project was incredibly worth it to us! We're also really proud of making our app with human connections in mind, which you can see from our concept to our art 🎨 - where we truly prioritised human touch in our process, while using technology in tandem.

We're also really proud and excited to share this app to our friends and family, and create a lovely community of users on this platform :> which is only possible due to the work we've put into making Flashback both cute and functional 🌸
