Inspiration

We wished there was an all-in-one event tracker app that someone could use to find events around the uni campus and connect with others so we took it upon ourselves to build one ourselves.

What it does

Flare is an all-in-one uni hub app. We’ve taken the best features of popular platforms and fused them into one cohesive experience. It allows a user to find events around campus that might pique their interest. In addition to that, it has a global chat where students from all over Melbourne can jump in, share ideas, meet people going to events they’re interested in, and connect in real-time, building a vibrant community that’s always buzzing.

How we built it

We used Flutterflow create the frontend and we connected it to supabase (our backend).

Challenges we ran into

Our main challenge was linking the frontend to the backend. It caused a lot of headaches, but we kept working at it and pushed through.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

It was our first time using Flutterflow and there was a bit of a learning curve to it, but we kept at it and eventually we got the hang of it, and now we have a new framework in our arsenal.

What we learned

We learned how to use Flutterflow and supabase, as well as the app pipeline and app communication, database management, and Figma prototyping UI design.

What's next for Flare?

A machine learning recommendation algorithm; global chat with regex; ability to purchase/resell tickets; sponsored event ads; ai assistant with calendar; verification through geo-tagging for post-event reviews.
