Inspiration. We were inspired by the game flappy-bird from our childhoods and the art style from games such as Stardew Valley.

What it does. It's a simulator where you guide a little penguin away from danger in space.

How we built it. We used Game Maker Studio, made use of scripts for the movement, and used a for-loop to generate obstacles. We write a game manager to determine whether the player was dead or alive as well as total up their score. Lastly, we designed character sprites in a retro/pixel-art style.

Challenges we ran into. The hardest part was creating the infinitely generating obstacles that were spaced out evenly as well as figuring out how to format certain sprites.

Accomplishments that we're proud of. We are proud of the art style as we feel that it embodies something from an arcade

What we learned. We learned that errors can be fixed in many different ways.

What's next for Flappy Penguin. For Flappy Penguin we plan to incorporate a better death animation, a score screen, a score saver, and different cosmetics to choose from.
