Do you ever wish retro arcade games were still around? If so we made the perfect hack for you >:)
Our Project is a three dimensional Flappy Bird game that comes to life!
Inspiration: We loved retro arcade games and we wanted to build something that seemed more modern but still had the core features.
What it does: The user has to dodge randomly generated obstacles with a push of a button, all while the platform is rotating.
How we built it: We used two Arduinos; Mega, Uno to create the interface. We then fitted the rotating part with six pairs of servo motors separated at 60 degrees each.
Challenges we ran into: We struggled with the over all kinematics of the project. While the object is rotating we had to also rotate the micro controller to make sure the wires weren't getting tangled.
Accomplishments that we're proud: We built a very rough version of our idea. After starting we realized this would be a difficult challenge but regardless we wanted to use the most of what we had to create something.
What we learned: We learned how to use the Arduino IDE to control servo motors and stepper motors.
What's next for Flappy Bird: We'll be working on making the over all experience be smoother. This includes the aesthetics and the user interface.
