Inspiration
Fixora was inspired by the everyday struggle people face when they urgently need trusted local services like electricians, plumbers, or repair technicians — but don’t know whom to contact. Most existing solutions are either cluttered, unreliable, or lack transparency. The goal behind Fixora is simple: make finding reliable local services fast, clean, and trustworthy.
What it does
Fixora is a local service finder platform that: Helps users discover nearby service providers Allows filtering based on ratings, category, and availability Focuses on clean UI for smooth browsing Aims to build trust through verified profiles and transparent reviews It simplifies the process of connecting customers with local professionals in just a few clicks.
How we built it
We started with a desktop-first UI approach, focusing on: Creating a structured color system and typography system Designing user-friendly layouts Applying psychology-based color choices for trust and clarity Planning scalable components for future expansion The project is being built step-by-step to ensure clarity in design and strong foundations before adding backend functionality.
Challenges we ran into
Deciding the right color palette that feels professional and trustworthy Avoiding UI clutter while still providing useful information Designing components that are reusable and scalable Managing time alongside college commitments
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Building a clean and structured design system Keeping the interface minimal and user-focused Laying a strong foundation instead of rushing features Turning a real-life problem into a practical solution
What we learned
Good UI is not just about looks — it's about psychology and usability Planning before building saves time later Simple designs often create better user experiences Consistency in colors and typography is powerful
What's next for Fixora
Implementing authentication and user accounts Adding service provider dashboards Building real-time booking functionality Introducing ratings and review systems Expanding to mobile responsiveness Eventually launching as a full-stack product
