🧾 FixitCV – Build Your Perfect Professional Resume
💡 Inspiration
I am Lahori Venkatesh, a final-year undergraduate student at MNIT Jaipur, and the builder of FixitCV.
But more than that, I am a student from a small village in Andhra Pradesh, raised in a poverty-stricken family with an annual income of just ₹1.5 lakhs.
Growing up, life was all about managing dreams within limitations. I studied in government schools, often with fewer resources, but I always had one thing — the hunger to learn and create.
When I entered MNIT Jaipur, it was a big leap — but with it came a new world of challenges.
In my second year, when internships began, I had to create a resume. I had never done that before.
I spent more than 3 hours building my first resume in MS Word. The formatting was messy, the alignment was off, and I didn’t know what “ATS-friendly” even meant.
Later, I shifted to Figma. It was better for design but still took me 1–2 hours each time just to edit and update.
But the worst part?
Despite my efforts, I wasn’t shortlisted for a few internships.
I later found out from seniors and recruiters that it was because of my resume design. That felt heartbreaking. I had the skills — but my resume didn’t represent me well.
And I wasn’t alone.
My friends — especially those from non-metro backgrounds — were going through the same problem.
We spent hours every week trying to fix our resumes:
- Searching for templates
- Watching YouTube tutorials
- Asking seniors again and again
- Trying to understand what recruiters look for
We were exhausted, confused, and frustrated.
That’s when the idea hit me:
"If we are struggling this much… why not build a simple platform that solves this?"
In the last semester of my third year, this idea started to grow.
But when I discussed it with seniors and peers, most said:
“SaaS projects are expensive.”
“You need backend, frontend, hosting, funding, a team.”
I had none of that.
Just a second-hand laptop, slow internet, and an old dream.
I didn’t even know how to code a full-stack app back then.
So, I buried the idea and moved on. But deep inside, the dream never left.
One day, I stumbled upon bolt.new — a platform that allows people to build apps using AI prompts.
Soon after, they announced the world’s largest AI hackathon.
That was my moment.
“If I can't afford to hire developers, buy tools, or build a team —
I’ll use what I have: my story, my pain, and this opportunity.”
I signed up, and for one month, I worked every single day —
Using bolt.new’s free tokens, building screens, generating flows, designing UI, and shaping what is now known as FixitCV.
This wasn’t just a project.
It was the first real dream I ever brought to life.
It was built through every rejection, every resume failure, every night I stayed awake trying to figure things out.
FixitCV was not born from a hackathon —
It was born from struggle, resilience, and the desire to make life easier for thousands of students like me.
🛠️ What it does
FixitCV is a resume builder platform designed for students, especially from rural and tier-3 colleges, who struggle with creating job-ready resumes.
With FixitCV, users can:
- Create professional, ATS-friendly resumes in minutes.
- Choose from clean, modern templates.
- Edit and update resumes easily — no design or coding skills needed.
- Save time during placements and internship seasons.
It’s fast, simple, and made for people who don’t have time or tools — just ambition.
🧪 How we built it
FixitCV was built completely during the 1-month bolt.new hackathon using AI-powered tools.
Here’s how I built it:
- Used bolt.new’s AI prompt engine to generate UI, backend flows, and pages.
- Designed clean, student-friendly interfaces using my previous Figma work.
- Iterated daily, testing every screen as if I were the user.
- Built the entire MVP with zero code and no external investment.
- Used only the free tokens and features available on bolt.new.
This was my first time using AI to build something real — and it gave life to a dream I almost gave up on.
⚠️ Challenges we ran into
The journey was far from easy. I faced many challenges:
- 📶 Poor internet in my village made testing and building slow.
- 💸 No funding — I relied only on free tools and features.
- 🧠 Learned AI prompting, UI flows, and backend logic from scratch.
- 🕒 Managed college work, classes, and this hackathon alone.
- 💔 Faced doubt — “Can someone like me really build SaaS?”
But I never gave up. Every day I reminded myself:
“If I can make this work, it will change how students build resumes — forever.”
🏆 Accomplishments that we're proud of
- ✅ Built a full MVP in just one month as a solo founder, using only free AI tools.
- 💻 Created a live, working resume builder for students across India.
- 📢 Shared my journey to inspire others from rural and low-income backgrounds.
- 🌱 Took the first real step toward turning a personal pain into a product that helps others.
- 🌍 Proved that you don’t need money or a big team to build something impactful.
📚 What we learned
- 🔁 How to turn a real-life struggle into a tech product.
- 🤖 How to leverage AI (bolt.new) to build without code.
- 🧠 How to apply user-first thinking in design and functionality.
- 🎯 That consistency, belief, and effort matter more than resources.
- 💬 How to tell a story — not just through words, but through product design.
Most importantly, I learned that students from small villages can build big things.
🚀 What's next for FixitCV – Build Your Perfect Professional Resume
FixitCV has just begun.
Next, I plan to:
- Add AI-powered resume content suggestions.
- Include cover letter builder and portfolio support.
- Launch a freemium model so users can export unlimited resumes.
- Partner with colleges to help students prepare for placements faster.
- Localize the app in multiple Indian languages for regional users.
And above all —
Keep improving FixitCV so that no student is left behind just because of a bad resume.
🙌 If I — Lahori Venkatesh, a student from a small village with no money or support — can build this… then you can too.
Fix your resume. Fix your future — with FixitCV.
