Inspiration
The idea to develop FixIt came from our team members who live in India in Chandigarh and Mumbai. They wanted to develop an application that will help their locality in getting roads and pavements in their area fixed, as quickly as possible, so that accidents can be avoided.
What it does
FixIt is a website developed with the idea of letting you report road conditions like potholes, accident prone areas and hazardous zone in your localiity to your municipality or local government body, so that they can come and do the repair work quickly.
How we built it
We have built FixIt as a Website for now. We have used React to build the website.
Challenges we ran into
This being our entire teams first hackathon, their were a lot of challenges and we have learned a lot. We had to push ourselves into learning technologies that we have no experience with.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The feeling that we have made something in two days even though its still incomplete, and are able to submit it for review, is something that we are really proud of.
What we learned
We learned Web development with ReactJS, learned about Google Cloud Platform, we learned how to host projects on google cloud, how to generate API keys, we learned how to make our application secure. It was a Great Challenge but it was fun and rewarding as well.
What's next for FixIt
There is a lot in store for FixIt. We are currently working on how to integrate Gooogle Maps API key into our website so that users can provide real time information to their mucipalities. We are also learning about mobile application development with Flutter, so that we can make FixIt available to a Wider Audience by placing it on their Fingertips.
