Inspiration
Campus life is often slowed down by fragmented daily processes. Maintenance complaints get lost in informal WhatsApp groups or physical logbooks, urgent official circulars get buried under casual chat spam, seniors discard valuable textbooks and tools while juniors struggle to buy them, and students scramble across random cloud drives for Previous Year Questions (PYQs) during exam weeks. We built FixFlow to solve these friction points by consolidating maintenance, campus announcements, student resource circularity, and academic repositories into one unified, intelligent platform.
What it does
FixFlow is an integrated smart campus operations and student resource platform featuring five core modules:
- Smart Issue Reporting: Enables students to scan geo-tagged QR codes placed in classrooms or labs to submit infrastructure complaints (broken equipment, electrical faults, leaks) with instant photo uploads and live status tracking.
- Notice2Action: A verified administrative bulletin board that categorizes official notices and automatically creates actionable reminders and deadlines.
- ReUseHub & BorrowLoop: A peer-to-peer campus marketplace and borrowing network enabling students to buy, sell, donate, or temporarily loan textbooks, lab kits, calculators, and drafters sustainably.
- StudyVault: A centralized, searchable repository of organized semester notes and past university exam papers (PYQs) filtered by branch, semester, and subject code.
- Administrative Command Center: An analytics-driven dashboard that aggregates reported issues, provides automated routing to maintenance teams, and tracks resolution times.
How we built it
- Frontend: React, HTML5, and Tailwind CSS for a fast, responsive, mobile-first student web application.
- Backend & Database: Supabase leveraging PostgreSQL for relational schema integrity, row-level security (RLS), and real-time state synchronization.
- Storage & Media: Supabase Object Storage for handling maintenance evidence uploads and academic PDF distribution.
- Authentication: Supabase Auth providing role-based access control (Student vs. Faculty/Admin).
- Deployment: Vercel for continuous integration and automated edge hosting.
- AI-Assisted Workflow: Utilized AI development assistants (Cursor / GitHub Copilot / Gemini) for UI component scaffolding, SQL query optimization, and architectural debugging.
Challenges we ran into
- Designing a unified database schema that seamlessly handles distinct data types—from ticket statuses and image attachments to marketplace listings and academic PDFs—without degrading performance.
- Structuring strict role-based access control to ensure administrative dashboards remain protected while keeping student reporting frictionless.
- Scope management to ensure all core workflows remain fully functional, demonstrative, and production-ready within a competitive 24-hour hackathon environment.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Designing a clean, enterprise-grade architecture that directly impacts real daily campus problems.
- Successfully integrating QR-driven direct ticket generation alongside a real-time admin resolution tracker.
- Building a sustainable student sharing economy (ReUseHub/BorrowLoop) alongside an academic repository (StudyVault) into one seamless user experience.
What we learned
- Best practices in structuring real-time database subscriptions using Supabase.
- Implementing modern component-driven architectures and strict type handling under tight time constraints.
- Applying agentic AI coding workflows responsibly and transparently to accelerate production velocity.
What's next for FixFlow
- Automated AI Computer Vision: Integrating multi-modal vision models to auto-detect and categorize infrastructure damage directly from user-uploaded complaint photos.
- Automated Ticket Dispatch: Integrating autonomous webhook triggers that notify specific campus maintenance personnel directly via automated SMS/WhatsApp alerts.
- Cross-Campus Expansion: Scaling FixFlow's multi-tenant architecture to support multiple collegiate institutions under a single network.
