Every SaaS company past a certain size has a bug backlog that's structurally stuck: individually low-priority, collectively a drag on churn and NPS, and nobody's incentive is to clear it. Engineering leads get measured on roadmap velocity, so a "button misaligned on mobile Safari" ticket loses every prioritization fight forever. Support owns the pain — they're the ones re-answering the same complaint weekly — but owns none of the code. That mismatch is the actual wedge: sell to the Head of Support/Customer Ops, price it against support metrics (time-to-resolution, reopen rate, CSAT), and you skip competing with the engineering team's own roadmap tools entirely.
