Inspiration

Sometimes the hardest part of doing something fun is deciding what to do. I wanted to create a simple website that helps people move past “I’m bored” and find an activity without scrolling through endless suggestions.

That inspired my random activity generator: a playful way to discover your next little adventure with one click.

What it does

The project suggests activities to help users find something fun to do. The idea is simple: click a button, get an activity, and try another suggestion if the first one doesn’t fit your mood.

The goal is to make discovering an activity quick and approachable, whether you want to get creative, spend time outside, or do something with friends.

How I built it

I used Freebuff to help build the website. I started by describing the experience I wanted: a one-page activity generator with a clear button, readable activity cards, and a playful design.

I broke the idea into smaller requirements, including the activity list, the random suggestion feature, and the overall layout. This gave me a clear starting point for turning the concept into a website.

What I learned

This project helped me explore how to turn a simple idea into a concrete product plan. I learned the importance of describing both what a website should look like and how it should behave.

It also helped me think about user experience: the main action should be easy to find, the suggestions should be easy to understand, and the design should support the purpose of the website.

Challenges I faced

One challenge was deciding how much to include in the first version. I had ideas for filters and additional features, but I wanted to keep the main experience simple rather than overwhelm users with options.

Another challenge was writing clear instructions for the build. I needed to explain the interactions and content, not just the visual style.

Accomplishments that I’m proud of

I’m proud of taking an everyday problem—being bored and not knowing what to do—and turning it into a focused website idea.

The project doesn’t need to be complicated to have a useful purpose: helping someone discover one small activity that makes their day more interesting.

What’s next

I would like to expand the activity collection, add more categories, and let users save their favorite suggestions.

I could also add filters for available time and budget so that suggestions better match what someone can actually do.
