My own self-consciousness about my non-so-great teeth

What it does

Takes your photos/selfies and generates 4 different versions with improved teeth

How we built it

The app is SwiftUI created with Cursor. The backend is Go, mostly hand written

Challenges we ran into

Figuring out why apple's face detection wouldn't work properly on some images. It turns out even if the photo displays in the correct orientation on your phone, that might be due to EXIF data, which face detection doesn't respect. Had to adjust the actual photo data to the correct orientation before running face detection

Shipped it in less than a week

Learned how to implement virtual currency in my app using RevenueCat

What's next for Fix My Smile

Hopefully lower nano-banana API costs leading to lower pricing
