Inspiration Every founder thinks their idea is bulletproof until it meets the market. We wanted to build a crucible—a tool to expose fatal flaws before founders burn their time, money, and sanity. Too many builders lack access to a brutally honest advisory network. We built "Five Villains" to be that ruthless, strategic sounding board.

What it does Five Villains is an adversarial business idea stress-testing lab. You input a startup concept, and it forces you to run a gauntlet against five distinct AI personas:

The Skeptical Customer: Attacks your value proposition and willingness to pay.

The Well-Funded Competitor: Threatens to clone your product and out-execute you.

The Burned Investor: Tears apart your market timing and unit economics.

The Regulatory Watchdog: Hunts for compliance traps and legal blockers.

The Cynical Journalist: Critiques your public perception and ethical narrative.

The app tracks your multi-turn rebuttals, calculates a dynamic Survivability Score, and identifies your top three fatal flaws. It doesn't just tear you down; it builds you back up by providing specific pivot recommendations and generating an actionable, 5-7 phase execution roadmap with interactive progress tracking.

How we built it We built this on the MeDo platform, focusing on rapid execution and a premium user experience.

The Engine: We engineered a multi-turn conversational AI system that streams responses character-by-character while maintaining strict, adversarial persona guidelines.

The Multiplayer: We implemented a real-time collaborative backend (via Supabase) so teams can simultaneously jump into a shared session, debate the villains together, and track live presence.

The UI/UX: We wrapped the heavy logic in a minimal, dark-mode technical aesthetic using modern Indigo accents, glassmorphism, and nuanced typography scales to prioritize focus on the feedback.

Challenges we ran into Building a real-time multiplayer environment for multi-turn AI debates was highly complex. We had to ensure precise database synchronization so team members didn't overwrite each other's rebuttals. We also had to troubleshoot and override deep Vite/CSS transformation errors during our custom UI overhaul to get our modern styling rendering flawlessly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of We successfully transformed a flat, single-player prototype into a fully synchronized, real-time collaborative platform. We are incredibly proud of the "Evolution Timeline" feature, which chronologically tracks how an idea transforms from a weak initial hypothesis into a hardened, viable roadmap directly through the friction of the AI challenge.

What we learned We learned how to effectively chain specific AI system prompts to maintain consistent, distinct character voices that genuinely challenge the user rather than just agreeing with them. We also mastered handling complex state management for real-time multiplayer features in a no-code/low-code AI environment.

What's next for Five Villains We plan to introduce Custom Villain Creation (allowing users to tailor the AI to their specific niche), a Competitive Mode, and the ability to export the entire stress-test evolution into a boardroom-ready PDF report. We plan auto suggestions while business idea input and during takeover (helps user brainstorm with their ideas).
