Fitted

Inspiration

Fitted was inspired by our struggles to find appropriate yet comfortable clothing to travel the world. We wanted to make it easier for everyone to quickly and conveniently find clothes for their travels.

What it does

Fitted takes a user's desired location, approximate dates of travel, and personal style to handcraft personalized recommendations for outfits.

How we built it

We used ChatGPT to find appropriate clothing for an area given the time of year, then search the web for clothes that meet the criteria suggested by the assistant's response. We then display this content for the user to make the final decision.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into issues getting the APIs for ChatGPT and Google Shopping search working. We tried using Cohere but found it difficult to get helpful results from it. We also struggled with react native and getting everything to come together on the frontend.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud that we learned about two really cool, relevant APIs this weekend. Additionally, we're happy with the amount of code we were able to write given that we aren't too experienced in programming as a whole.

What we learned

We learned that the coding process comes with many twists and turns. Things often take longer than expected, which makes it hard to fit into a hackathon. We were very pleased with the designs for the product and will continue to improve on them in the future.

What's next for Fitted

We know that picking outfits is a major challenge for everyone, especially for places you aren't familiar with. Thus, we hope to keep finding ways to improve the Fitted experience and add more functionality to the app
