Inspiration
Due to COVID, many people have stopped exercising and keeping up with their fitness. This is where we come in! The members of Fitness Freek united for the sole purpose of providing support and motivating individuals to work out and keep healthy once more.
What it does
While not completely implemented, our idea is to help people get back on their feet and exercise once again. How? Well, we have our Fitness Freek Currency that increases based on the hours and time that the user spends on different exercises(you can redeem this currency for gift cards on different platforms like Amazon etc.) We even have a gym page where the user can search for their own gyms and training centers nearby. The validation system you ask? The plan is to incorporate a movement/speed/heart-rate measurement system, increasing your Fitness Freek Currency with more hours that you spend on the exercises.
How we built it
We used HTML5, CSS3, and JS for the front end. The backend was made using MongoDB, NodeJS, and ExpressJS.
Challenges we ran into
Challenges include the serverside rendering and the signing/logging in of the user
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Fitness Freek members are proud to have worked together and created a somewhat full product. Specifically, using MongoDB clusters was a fun concept to explore.
What we learned
We learned a lot about working as a team and using different technologies.
What's next for Fitness Freek
We hope to add the login/sign-up to the front end and also incorporate the validation system into our website.
