Inspiration
We looked at the prompt and thought to ourselves what we could make that would solve some of the problems that we come across in our day-to-day lives. We came to the conclusion that building an application that helps you progress in the gym would be quite useful since being active is something that everyone should be doing. Starting out in the gym for the first time can be quite jarring so that is why we decided to build an application that builds a plan for you based on your experience in the gym and evolve as you progress in the gym.
What it does
The application takes your metrics and your experience in the gym to make a workout plan that suits your skill level and your availability to work out.
How we built it
We used Mecsim Calc and the numpy python library
Challenges we ran into
We spent a lot of time brainstorming what the most efficient way to store the different types of workouts was. This led us to not have enough time to finish the output like we wanted. Because of this we also did not have enough time to implement some of the other features that we wanted our application to have such as giving out an 8-week plan with progressive weights and exercises based on how many times you are able to workout during the week.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of learning more Python and figuring out new tech that we did not have exposure to beforehand under the time constraint.
What we learned
We learned that time management is big and structuring out tasks across team members efficiently is essential to working in a time crunch.
What's next for Fitness App
Progressive workout plans with harder exercises and sets/reps. Meal Plans based on your Basal Metabolic Rate and fitness goals!
