Inspiration
Working out is hard. Forming habits is even harder. We want to help incentivize people to stick with the workout goals for the long-term.
What it does
FitBet allows users to stake money behind their 30-day quantifiable cycling goal. Once their goal is achieved, they receive their stake back.
How we built it
We built it the frontend through VScode and utilizing the Strava API to feed data to our goal verification.
Challenges we ran into
As beginner coders, we did not know how to achieve many of the goals we initially set for ourselves in this short period of time. This also meant, we were unable to cooperate efficiently since none of us were familiar with the process of pushing and pulling from git.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud that we really spent almost all of the 18 hours up trying to work on this project. With no basic web development practice before hand, it really was a struggle to learn something and apply it immediately. In fact, there was difficulty in knowing what to search to obtain the information we wanted.
What we learned
We learned a lot about the ways that front and back end interact with each other in the Solana development environment. In addition, we realize the internet is reallllllyyy helpful.
What's next for FitBet
We had many goals in mind pertaining to blockchain and smart contracts to manage the transactions of betting. We will likely follow a guide to full stack development on Solana as a starting point. Furthermore, we want to accommodate for more unique goals in the realm of physical training as well as some sort of anti cheat. Lastly, we want to create a sense of community, where other users can place bets on each other so different communities can form.
