Inspiration
A lot of our friends in our friend group are fitness geeks; we were in a rock climbing club together, which gave us access to the gym, and many of us would use the gym equipment regularly. Working out and staying consistent can be overwhelming, especially if you don't even know where to start. We made a simple beginner-friendly design that is easy to read and easy to navigate, so that beginners can have an idea on where to start.
What it does
Fit-U is designed to make it easy for users to create and customize their own workout routines. It comes with the functions to create and edit lists of workouts, as well as adding them to an interactable calendar. There are also basic presets built into the webpage that creates a workout plan for them, allowing beginners to start from a comfortable place.
How we built it
We used Google Gemini to get the foundation down, and then we patched up stuff that needed to be fixed, and changed the webapp to our liking.
Challenges we ran into
Some challenges we faced were coming up with ideas, fitting those ideas into the track, and managing our time. We had to decide how much time to allocate to different stages of developing the project, as well as deciding what features to focus on first. A major hurdle we had was fixing the many bugs that came with the starting code Gemini gave us.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Starting this project and coming up with the idea together.
What we learned
We learned how to utilize AI to learn effectively, collaborate in a group setting, and create and manage a timeline for the project.
What's next for Fit-U
We may add in an integrated map that show gym locations and prices. We were also thinking of creating an AI chat bot that would help create a workout for you or explain with a step-by-step guide on how to do an exercise. Besides that, we just need to add some more preset options and polish up the webpage a bit more.
