Inspiration

As teenagers, both us have experienced peer pressure and we know that peer pressure can force teens to take wrong steps that harms their mental and physical wellness. Therefore, we decided to create a project that gives teenagers a platform to improve their mental and physical wellness.

What It Does

On the home page of our website, we have an image to welcome viewers and the message "Relax, Renew, Refresh" because that is our mission. On the home page, we also have a quote and the two sections, mental wellness and physical wellness. On the bottom, we have our mission statement and what makes us unique.

Onto the next page for mental wellness, we start off with a slideshow of calming images and there are three buttons; the viewer can click the service they are looking for, including if they are stressed, anxious, or looking for something fun to do. If the viewer is looking for services for stress or anxiety, we have dropdown options, including activities and ways to seek help. In the mental wellness page, we also have a random activity generator button which is linked to "Freetime Mindful Activity Generator" and gives random activities related to mindfulness.

Next, on our physical wellness page, we have different body muscles and next each of them, there are two categories, one being exercises that will help you maintain that muscle, and the other category includes remedies on how you can reduce pain in that body part. Each section has red text, meaning it is linked to an article or a video.

Finally, we have a chat with us page where viewers can ask us questions or leave us comments about our website or reach out if they need someone to talk to.

With our website, we hope more teenagers will feel confident and achieve physical and mental wellness.

How We Built It

We used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to code our website in glitch. We also used some features from Wix (coding in Wix developer mode) and copied the code into our Glitch.

Challenges We Ran Into

We came across many challenges, but our most challenging task was the navbar. Since we used bootstrap for the navbar, it was difficult to make its appearance how we wanted it and it took a long time to link each page to the navbar because the bootstrap overrode our edits. Another challenge we faced was formatting the image and text the way we wanted them. In the home page and the physical wellness page, we had lots of trouble placing the text next to or on top of the image, but with the Deadpool, we're able to figure that out.

What We Learned

We learned time management is key to ensuring a successful project. With a limited timeframe, we had to split tasks and work under pressure, and we came across many problems. We realized the best way to approach such projects is to let our creativity flow and see how much we get done.

What's Next for Fit the Fun Way

Our next steps for this project include adding a membership profile, so viewers can create an account and have a more personalized experience. We also want to add a map where viewers are connected to an actual therapist, if they are looking for that service.
