According to a HuffPost survey, the average American takes about 45 minutes to plan an outfit for a special occasion. Additionally, according to a survey by PR Newswire, 33% of those surveyed suffer from style anxiety, with an additional 41% of individuals feeling immense pressure to look stylish. We designed our HackHCC project with these very people in mind. By digitizing what is already in your closet and searching the web for what will match the occasion, we have built an app for everyone to improve their style and save some time.
First, the user will have the option to create a digital inventory of their wardrobe in our app by simply taking a picture of their clothing items. After taking a picture, we will add the clothing item to their “closet."
Once the user has generated a closet, they are ready to start planning an outfit. To plan an outfit, the user will have two options. They can select items from their closet that they want to build around or tell the app what kind of weather event, vibe, or event they are dressing for and an outfit will be recommended
If the user's closet is insufficient to build a good looking outfit, then our app will automatically suggest new clothing items to shop for online. Additionally, the user will have the ability to set a budget for their online shopping suggestions.
In summary, our app will plan an outfit for when planning an outfit becomes overwhelming. It will help those anxious about wasted time or having the wrong outfit for the occasion.
