Inspiration

Over 61 percent of all deaths in India are due to lifestyle or non-communicable disease. Every 12th Indian is said to be a diabetic in India, which means something is wrong that needs some attention. Unhealthy diet, physical inactivity, and bad habits result in lifestyle diseases and some chronic diseases like heart disease, stroke, diabetes, hormonal disorders, obesity, etc. Maintaining proper health and sticking to a regular exercise schedule isn't easy. After all, there are plenty of potential hindrances — time, boredom, injuries, self-confidence.

What it does

We are providing certified ways and means for people to be fitter in terms of both mental health and physical health. We believe that "Prevention is better than cure". Instead of just letting things run the way it is, we have made an Application with features like sleep tracker, food planners, and goal setter. This app also aims to improve the user’s mental health by surveys, suggestions, improving social interaction, and guide you to bots that keep checking up on you. The Application also gives you an idea about the correct way of eating Indian food with building immunity and increasing metabolism rate without strict dieting. It provides exciting facts about every essential fitness tip that will develop your mind to eat less unhealthy food. It comprises an exercise tracker that will accompany the users in their workout and a food planner, which helps them select food according to their target calories per day.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was to locate the pose estimation key points without having much knowledge about the pose estimation libraries and we learned to use the Open pose library for pose estimation to jointly detect human body, hand, facial, and foot key points.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We created a competitive fitness platform that will motivate the users to exercise and provide them discounts for their better performance. We Created an exercise tracker which will remove the need to have the instructor for the exercise as in lockdown it becomes difficult to go to the gym. We designed it using an open pose library that will check all poses in Real-Time by monitoring our postures and tracking their progress. In the future, we will add more functionality like if an incorrect posture or deviation from the actual posture is observed, the user will receive a text or audio reminder(alarm). The text messages will be accompanied by images of correct posture and users’ incorrect posture. NodeMCU can be integrated with App to take regular checkups of Spo2, pulse, ECG, temperature, and gives output based on the triage system.

What we learned

We learned the use of the Openpose library for pose estimation by giving us a multi-person system to jointly detect human body, hand, facial, and foot key points (in total 135 keypoints) on single images.

We learned to use the Bite.ai Food planner API to help the users to input the pictures of the food and get insights about how many calories this food will add to their diet.

What's next for Fit Alliance

In our exercise tracker till now we have worked on the Plank detector and mountain yoga pose. In the future, we will add features for push-up rep counter and jumping jacks, etc. Our model currently worked on our local machine we will deploy this model into production using AWS virtual machines. The users will be able to connect and challenge their friends using video calls and our exercise tracker model will help them correct their poses and give them fair results. We will partner will nutrition products-based companies and provide discounts to the users who will perform better in challenges.
