Inspiration
This is our story, we built fishman adventures as a way to combine our interest in the gaming industry and with our desire to protect the world's oceans.
How we built it
Unity and C# became our best buddies during this project! None of us were Unity pros, but we were like "challenge accepted!" For the artsy stuff, we went full pixel-art mode with Piskel. It was honestly super fun turning our sea creatures from sketches into actual game characters. Sure, there was a lot of boring and repetitive moments, but that's part of the adventure.
Challenges we ran into
Version control with GitHub tested our problem-solving skills in unexpected ways! After several merges, we discovered that some of our working features had mysteriously vanished - like our character's walking animation and collected trash counter. Crafting the perfect ending also pushed our creative boundaries as we explored different ways to wrap up our ocean conservation message.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
During this exciting project, we gained valuable experience with Unity development and pixel art creation, while building our skills in version control. The best part is working together and learning from each other's strengths made this project both rewarding and enjoyable. It's amazing what you can accomplish when combining technical growth with great collaboration!
What we learned
Teamwork, adaptability, thinking on the fly and perseverance
What's next for Fishman adventures
The ocean's deep, and so are our plans for Fishman Adventures! First up: giving our game some extra polish and sparkle. We've got tons of ideas swimming around in our heads - more sea creatures to meet, cool ocean facts to discover, and maybe even some sweet new mini-games. Who knows? Maybe one day we'll team up with some ocean conservation folks and make an even bigger splash!
