"FishermenDuel" is invented for sailors who prior their safety, or anyone who seeking the ideal weather conditions and location for fishing or other outdoor water activities.

Inspiration

My team mate and I both lived by the seaside in Vietnam, so many of our relatives are fishermen. Therefore, we heard many stories about potential fatal situations stemming from bad weather. As a result, when the topic was announced, we directly had the idea of creating a weather forecast only for people working far off land.

What it does

The app provides highly accurate weather forecasting and streamlines the process of planning fishing expeditions through an interactive map. We eliminate the need to rely on city-based weather data that isn't suitable for nautical activities. Instead, users can effortlessly pinpoint their destination on a map, making the trip planning process more efficient and ensuring they have the best time on the water. We believe "FishermenDuel" is an innovative solution designed to enhance the fishing experience in the vast expanse of the ocean.

How we built it

First, we split the work into two - one tried to fetch the data from the weather API, including temperature, wave height, and wind speed, and the other learned to use the Google Maps API to obtain latitude and longitude.

Challenges we ran into

We are trying to update our app with emergency tracking using firebase, but we met some obstacles in launching that part into IOS devices. Moreover we have the desire to carry this app back to my hometown, so we had the pressure to make it beneficial and usuable.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We ended up complete out beginning goal although we want more than that. We have got over out limits, since we never done this much amount of work within a day.

What we learned

As a freshman, we are a little confident with ourselves, but after the competition, we realized we still need to try harder and harder, because there are still numerous effective tool that we haven't learnt to use yet.

What's next for FishermenDuel

We will finish what we left in the hackathon. We will fix the bug for emergency tracking, and of course, we want more people in our hometown to know about our app and use it for their next sailing duel.
