Inspiration

We are four students from germany and we are really into programming and video games, so we thought we could combine those two things with this project.

What it does

It helps providing the sea life by drawing attention to it.

How we built it

We started by brainstorming what game we could create to display how the oceans are being destroyed (UN goal 14). After that, we created a unity project and coded it. While we did that, one of our mates made the graphics.

Challenges we ran into

There were a few challenges that took a bit of time. One time, we had to implement a method that searches for the GameObject, which has the smallest distance to the unit, but instead it returned the Object with the biggest distance. We tried solving the problem for about an hour until we noticed that the Greater-sign was facing the wrong way.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Seeing the enemies move how they are supposed to
  • The nice sprite-artwork
  • The shop (to buy fish)

What we learned

Half of our team is completely new to game development. We learned interesting things about it and we want to continue in the future.

What's next for Fish Gunner

The next big update will be animations
