Inspiration
This project was inspired by personal experiences, all of us being freshman and trying to meet new people. While there are many ways to do so through A&M, we thought a website centered around freshman meeting freshman would be beneficial in broadening individuals' connections and make an easier/more effective way to meet others.
What it does
Fish Finding Families allows freshman to create a profile, and to browse other freshman's profiles, where they can get to know a little about other freshman and reach out if they are interested. There are also spots for resources that we believed all freshman should be aware of, including to Aggie One Stop and Tamu Calendar with events.
How we built it
We built our website through VS Code using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Challenges we ran into
The main challenges came from connecting the functions in JS to the actual HTML page, specifically outputting form data onto another HTML page.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we were able to create a whole functional website with little prior experience in web development
What we learned
We learned our way around HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and how they all work together and connect by just practicing, and through the workshops.
What's next for Fish Finding Friends
The next plausible step is to actually have a data set instead of hardcoding 'others' profiles, as well as make the UI even better, and more aesthetic.
