Inspiration

We are inspired by the mini fish game ads that we always see on youtube and other websites. We played some of them and realized that they were not fun and bad quality. At first, we wanted a make a game that is similar, but we soon realizes that that was not a good idea. At last, we decided to make a weird but fun game.

What it does

It is a game where you are a fish monster and you would have to fight your way to success; by defeating different bosses and monsters. You also get a ver special ability of shooting lazes out of your mouth (different for level 1 and 2: try clicking right button of mouse).

How we built it

We decided to make it in unity because we are skilled in unity. Alan has previs experience in making games. He was the person who made motions for the characters. Daniel Lee contributed the idea and the main storyline. He also handled the collision detectors. Next, Mark Chen found and made the background image, captions, and sprites. He also had laser beams. Lastly, Daniel Min created the sounds. In short, the 4 of us Big-brained it. We first thought our plabned game would be impossible to make in 2 days; however, changing mind, we skipped sleeping and eventually finished this massive amount of programming only with exertion and skills (so we are proud of ourselves).

Challenges we ran into

Some of the challenges that we ran into are:

  1. some images online did not meet the requirements so we had to hand draw and animated them.
  2. making the collision detectors was hard because when we made it, Alan was affected by covid-19 so he could not make it.
  3. In the end handling such a massive file was challenging.
  4. since we were not really good at OOP, we had to learn those concepts by watching youtube videos and a barons book.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are Proud of the game and the laser, and the fact that we even finished it because at the start we did not think that we will.

What we learned

In this project:

  1. we learned OOP(Object-oriented programming) concept
  2. collision detectors.
  3. How to handle images and music in coding(Not Alan).

What's next for Fish Blaster

We think that we can still make 2 more levels, also new and improved weapons for the fish. We also hope to improve sound quality and be able to make a mouse cursor for levels 1 and 2 so that players can more easily play (It is hard to play levels 1 and 2). Lastly, we want to modify the language because when we started making it, Mark Chen accidentally set the language to Chinese, and when we found it out, it was too late to modify.
