Inspiration
The inspiration for FiscallySmart AI came from a desire to bridge the gap between financial literacy and real-world investing. Many people want to explore stock trading but hesitate due to the risks and complexity involved. By creating a platform that simulates stock trading while offering personalized AI insights, we aimed to provide a safe, engaging environment for users to learn and grow their financial knowledge.
What it does
FiscallySmart AI offers a suite of features to educate and engage users:
- Virtual Stock Trading: Simulates trading, allowing users to test strategies risk-free.
- AI-Driven Insights: Provides personalized financial suggestions and market analysis.
- Interactive Charts: Uses Plotly.js to dynamically visualize trading data.
- Financial Goal Setting: Helps users set and track progress toward financial milestones.
- News Integration: Fetches the latest stock-related news for informed decision-making.
- Learning Modules: Includes educational resources on investments, risk management, and more.
How we built it
The platform was built using the MERN stack:
- MongoDB for database management.
- Express.js for backend API routing.
- React (with some EJS templates) for the frontend.
- Node.js for backend processing.
Additional technologies included:
- Passport.js for user authentication.
- Plotly.js for dynamic visualizations.
- TailwindCSS for responsive UI design.
We structured the application following the Model-View-Controller (MVC) pattern, deployed it on Render, and ensured modularity for future scalability.
Challenges we ran into
- Real-Time Stock Data Integration: Overcoming API rate limits with batch requests for efficient data fetching.
- Interactive Visualizations: Ensuring seamless Plotly.js integration while maintaining performance.
- User Data Security: Safeguarding sensitive information using Passport.js, bcrypt, and secure environment variables.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Successfully creating a feature-rich platform that combines education and engagement.
- Implementing real-time stock simulations with dynamic visualizations.
- Deploying a modular and scalable application with robust security measures.
What we learned
- The importance of optimizing API usage for large-scale data processing.
- Strategies for integrating dynamic visualization tools like Plotly.js.
- Enhancing user experience through responsive and interactive design.
What's next for FiscallySmart AI
