FirstFit
Your next chapter looks good on you.
FirstFit turns a student's existing wardrobe into a personal plan for their first internship. Three familiar pieces. Two thoughtful additions. Four unique outfit combinations across three occasions. Our concept catalog brings that journey to life with a S$101 plan and real YouCam AI Clothes V4 virtual try-on.
Inspiration
A first internship opens an exciting new chapter: new people, new opportunities, and a new daily rhythm. We wanted getting dressed for that chapter to feel equally inspiring.
Our starting point was the student's own wardrobe. A favorite shirt, a familiar pair of trousers, and a thoughtful new addition can become the foundation of a personal career style. FirstFit brings those possibilities into one clear, visual experience.
What it does
FirstFit connects three decisions: what to reuse, what to add, and how to wear it.
Mark the catalog pieces you already own and choose a budget. FirstFit assembles a plan around three real moments: an interview, a day at the office, and a social occasion. Each suggestion connects to the outfits it enables, the clothes it reuses, and its place in your budget.
In our featured catalog journey, an Oxford shirt, tailored trousers, and white sneakers become the foundation for four unique combinations. An olive blazer at S$59 and espresso loafers at S$42 complete the plan. All three occasions fit within a S$101 spend; the video's S$140 budget leaves S$39 for the next part of the student's week.
Then make it personal. Select a look, add your photo and a garment image, and generate a YouCam preview. Save styling favorites, compare looks side by side, and keep a live preview with its source in your styling session. Download the shopping plan to take the chosen pieces and their outfit ideas with you.
How we built it
We built the interface with React and TypeScript and connected it to a Node.js/Express API service. At the heart of the planner is an exact search over the catalog's possible purchase subsets. Within the budget, it first maximizes occasion coverage, then chooses the fewest new pieces, the lowest cost, and finally the most unique clothing combinations.
That order gives every recommendation a clear purpose. Already own the blazer? The featured plan selects only the S$42 loafers. Set the budget to S$250? It keeps the same S$101 pair of additions. The planner makes each piece earn its place.
The YouCam integration carries a person photo and garment image through upload, task creation, status polling, and the finished preview. We also completed a real two-stage transformation: first adding the espresso loafers, then using that result as the source for the olive blazer. The finished image brings the planned interview look into view.
Engineering achievements
We connected the wardrobe plan, garment selection, personal preview, saved comparison, and downloadable list into a coherent experience. An independent browser review completed a fresh live generation, saved the result, reopened it from Saved, and switched between the preview and its source. The product carries the decision all the way from “What do I own?” to “This is my next look.”
Accomplishments
- Delivered four unique combinations across three occasions from three owned pieces and two additions in the S$101 concept catalog scenario.
- Matched an independently written planning oracle across 539 wardrobe, occasion, and budget scenarios; all 17 targeted tests passed.
- Produced two connected, real YouCam AI Clothes V4 results and verified live generation, saving, source comparison, and shopping-plan download in the browser.
What we learned
A useful wardrobe experience starts with the person and the moment they are preparing for. Bringing reuse, occasion, budget, and personal visualization together gives each recommendation a place in someone's actual week.
What's next
Next, we plan to expand occasion planning and personal style preferences. Our vision is simple: help more students make thoughtful wardrobe choices and step into new opportunities with confidence.
