In everyday life, we often hear about "official inflation," but it rarely matches the prices we see in stores. Official inflation is an average value that almost never reflects the rate of inflation for our own personal basket of goods. Inflation Shield solves this problem by showing how inflation affects you personally. The project was built using Python, leveraging Plotly for visualization and Streamlit for the web interface—both of which were learned during the course of the project. The main challenge in building the project was handling currency typing and accounting for inflation across different countries. In the future, we could add features like reading bank statements in CSV format, real-time inflation updates, and an expanded selection of countries and languages.
