Inspiration

We were inspired to make this website because we learned about first aid at school. There are thousands of casualties that occur each year because people are unaware of how to perform First Aid. First aid is something that not many people know, and fewer have the resources to learn about it. First Aid Ed solves both those problems, by making first aid easy to learn, accessible for all.

What it does

First Aid-Ed is a website that covers CPR and the Heimlich maneuver, two essential first aid practices in our world today. The website has information about what they are, when they are used, the steps to perform and uses interactive quizzes and simulations to make it engaging. The goal of first aid ed is to make first aid practices accessible to people around the world in an fun, interactive and efficient way. Having knowledge of first aid can improve the overall safety of our society.

How I built it

We began by designing what we wanted our website to look like on canva and then used Repl.it to code our project with HTML, CSS, as well as a little bit of Scratch.

Challenges I ran into

There were a few things that did become challenging throughout the process, for example, as beginners, we had to do a lot of research to figure out how to include different features to our website, however, it was all definitely worth it.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

The simulation, the look of the website, and that we were able to make all of this with actual code which is something we weren’t expecting of doing at first so it felt very accomplishing to be able to do so.

How to code in HTML and CSS, and create a simulation in Scratch.

What's next for First Aid-Ed

In the future, we hope to add more topics, such as how to use an AED and burn treatment. We would also like to add more features that would make the website more engaging, as well as working with medically-trained professionals who are well educated in first aid.
