Inspiration
My inspiration for the FAC Bot (first aid crisis bot) comes from the lack of first aid knowledge all around the world. Many of us have seen videos of people being in extremely critical conditions or dying because they couldn't be assisted in time. Medical emergencies such as burns, strokes, allergic reactions, can happen anytime, anywhere and to anyone! The person or the group of people around the individual who needs assistance immediately may go into a panic as there are so many resources online just for one single problem and leads to everyone blanking out. Having one platform to go to for such emergencies is way more convienient.
What it does
The FAC Bot provides the following on selection: Nearby hospitals and emergency contact numbers. First Aid instructions on Anaphylaxis, bleeding, choking, burns, fractures, nosebleeds, insect bites, sprains, and seizures. CPR Instructions for a child and/or adult.
How I built it
I used the online IDE, Replit to run the code. The language used is python. I installed the pyTelegramBotAPI package, imported os and telebot for this project as the bot runs on Telegram!
Challenges I ran into
Working with an API Key and understanding it was challenging due to my lack of experience but after running multiple tests, it finally worked. Once that was done, there were a few connection issues on the platform Telegram but I managed to sort that out too.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
The amount of options we have for this bot and how user friendly it is makes me extremely proud of this project. It is simply a click and go , no login needed. All that is needed is the popular and very secure messaging app, telegram!
What I learned
While building this project, I myself learnt a lot about the first aid instructions that we're supposed to follow if anything happens. I also learnt about API keys as this was my first project using one. Last but not the least, I learnt how to make bots on telegram which means I can further use my knowledge to tackle similar issues.
What's next for First Aid Crisis Bot
I hope for the bot to get more awareness on social media as it can be extremely useful. I wish for it to have more options and certified medical advice for regular medical problems too.
