We believe everyone should have access to basic first aid training.
Performing first aid before an ambulance arrives can often be the difference between life and death, but unfortunately Australia has one of the lowest rates of first aid trained individuals in the world (less than 5% of Australians are trained). Our First Aid chatbot will be a conversational, interactive experience, where the decisions you make can save someone’s life.
While this won’t take the place of doing a full-day certified First Aid course, we’re on a mission to start making learning first aid more accessible, fun and interactive for all Australians.
- We are creating a new Alexa Skill to raise awareness of first aid knowledge in an interactive, educational environment that is easily accessible.
- This chatbot is not for real time situations. This is about education and helping people be prepared and providing an opportunity to test or refresh on first aid knowledge
- The chatbot will provide education based on the user’s responses throughout the scenario provided.
What's next for First Aid chatbot We'd like to build out more scenarios, and improve the learning experience by providing better natural language processing abilities of the bot.
How to start the chatbot The files necessary to build an Alexa Skill and to create a corresponding Lambda function have been uploaded to Github. To start the Skill, say: “Alexa, open first aid chatbot”
