Inspiration

In life, you can never really predict what may happen next. It's possible that someone you may know might end up facing a life-threatening medical scenario. Unfortunately, many of us don't really know how to react in such scenarios. Quite often, people cannot sadly help their loved ones because of this. However, if more people were aware of first aid practices, we could change this and make a difference. Hence, this is the main inspiration behind the creation of this app.

What it does

As the name suggests, the First Aid Assistant is there to assist people with first aid. The user is first asked to describe the medical scenario they're facing. For example, this may include describing the symptoms being faced by a patient. The app then analyzes the input and gives out two outputs. First, the app explains the essential steps that need to be taken to address the current medical situation. The app also provides a list of relevant emergency numbers that can be called. Finally, the app also has a chatbot, that can answer any additional questions the user may have.

How we built it

This app was built entirely using Amazon's PartyRock and AWS Services.

Challenges we ran into

There were certain challenges that I ran into. The main challenge was prompt engineering. I had to structure all of the prompts in such a way, that the output displayed was as per my expectation. At times, the output wasn't really the most accurate. Apart from this, there were a few minor challenges such as organizing the widgets of the app in the most effective way possible.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Overall, I was proud that I was able to develop a simple app that has the potential to have a massive impact. I was also proud of the fact that I was able to effectively PartyRock, a piece of technology that I've never used before.

What we learned

From this project, I was able to learn about prompt engineering and how to effectively design a prompt. In addition, I was also to learn about PartyRock and how it works.

What's next for First Aid Assistant

In the future, I would love to develop First Aid Assistant further. For one, the app could use more visuals. In addition, this app could also be developed in another language and on a larger scale.
