Inspiration
We all grew up playing Mario Brothers. We wanted to make our own version based on the theme of hackathon.
What it does
It provides entertainment.
How we built it
We used Unity as our game engine, Fl Studios for music, and Pixilart.com for our sprite design. We mostly used YouTube tutorials and online assets to handle the basics of Unity. Our is game is a 2d platformer that is robot themed and the goal is to get to the end without touching spikes or enemies. Specifically, we used the Pixel Adventure 1 asset from the Unity Asset Store for the terrain, background, trophy, and spikes. We had some unused sprites we designed, like a final boss, projectiles, particles, and different color gems.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into several challenges. First, Unity does not have a collaborate option, so we had to work on the project individually and combine our code at the end. Second, we had to learn how each program worked since all of us were using them for the first time. Third, we wanted to program the enemies to shoot the player. We were able to get the enemies to shoot one bullet but could not get them to shoot more without encountering more problems.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of learning Unity, making music, making the animation, and overall completing the level.
What we learned
We learned effective communication and teamwork. We learned how to adapt quickly to solve a problem. We learned how to adjust the overall project when time is short.
What's next for FireWall
We would like to make more levels and continue developing the enemies and challenges of the levels.
