Inspiration

In general l like creating with AI. I have a million ideas and have created trading programs, admin-in-a-box with AI, orchestrators, webmail/android solution, a game etc. However we had meetings with security software vendors and three things struck me 1. The geo-political risk of todays security software vendor landscape 2. The fact that with relatively few resources we can create custom software and remove the geo-political risk. 3. The fact that the vendors software missed some obvious features that would be killer. This was meant only as an inspirational demo but I plan to run it internally in my lab along with my other AI-assisted creations.

What it does

Its micro-segmentation firewall control plane built in GO with client system agents (BSD, Windows and Linux). It also supports integrated Ai assisted analysis of vulnerability scans (by Wazuh or other tools), and AI assisted firewall policy recommendations and cleanup.

How we built it

I used AI coding tools from openai and anthropic in conjunction with internal orchestrations tools to build it. I started in late may. Main features are in place but finalizing a huge code audit and making features more stable.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The interface is especially good as usually tech software built by techies is too busy. This combines a perfect mix of need to know and useability. I use what I learned here in all my previous programs and am going back and optimizing their prompt.

What we learned

Interface design rules, Lots about guiding and prompting AI to create in a manner that works. Other general things related to security, TPM, firewalling etc.

What's next for FireforgeAI

Stabilization and build out certain features. However I don't really want to add that more atm as its kind of perfect for what it does. Also I always have at least 5 projects going at the same time. I want it production running in my home environment and stable. Only missing feature that still needs testing is cloud (GCP, AWS and Azure) integration
