Inspiration
If you have ever tried to evacuate a building during a real emergency before you know how much of a hassle it can be. There is evacuation plans and routes designed but at the time of the emergency nobody really knows what they are or where to find it.
Purpose
Safety Fuse is a project designed to make the Fuse a safer building for our Mason community by utilizing floorplans, user reports and building information to provide the user with a safe evacuation route in case of a fire.
Design Process
For our project, we used React, Django, Python , and Javascript to set up our web app and deployed through Azure Web Services. We used Azure AI to help us evaluate the safest evacuation routes.
Challenges and setbacks
Throughout the process, we struggled to get the Azure AI deployed and working, but we were eventually able to do it with help from the mentors and by team collaboration.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Learned how to use Azure AI, how to use Figma for UI design and all the fun moments we had while working together
Lessons learned
As first hackathon participants, we learned how to collaborate with other team members in a faced paced environment and under a strict time constraints. We also learned how to use some tools that we weren't too familiar with like Git and Azure.
What's next for Project Safety FUSE
In the future, we would like to implement our fire safety project for every floor on the fuse, as due to time constraints, we were only able to do it for one floor. We also believe that our project could be expanded to handle other potential hazards on the building like a natural disaster or a lockdown by providing the user with a safe solution.
