Inspiration

Two in three adults globally are financially illiterate furthermore, studies show that many people struggle to seek financial advice. Our goal was to use technology to make seeking help around your finances easy and stress free.

What it does

FINZEE is a trusted online ecosystem that makes getting financial advice simple. It connects users with trusted and verified financial professionals. FINZEE uses Finastra's account information API to centralise all bank transactions and simplifies the engagement with financial professionals. Lastly, FINZEE will use machine learning to give recommendations on transactions, making it easer for users to identify transactions with financial significance.

How we built it

Our solution is built using Google Cloud and Heroku. Google Cloud hosts our custom API written in Python and our noSQL database containing users' transaction annotations. These annotations have been added to Finastra's Account Information API data. In the front end we've deployed our application using React, hosted on Heroku.

Challenges we ran into

Our team ran in to many challenges throughout this hackathon. With a weak financial background it was difficult to define a strong financial solution without outside assistance. We also faced challenges developing custom APIs and building a user friendly frontend. Finally, it was difficult to focus on solving the solution from a Global perspective.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud to have addressed a real need in the community. The solution we have come up with is something that our team personally feels would be a tool ourselves and many of our peers would use and benefit from.

What we learned

It takes a cross functional team to deliver a valuable product. Our diverse set of skills and lived experiences really propelled us in coming up with an innovative solution to financial illiteracy.

What's next for Finzee

Finishing the build while we test the feature set and the UI/UX with real users. Adding two factor authentication will also be necessary before going live.
