Inspiration
We wanted to bridge the past with the future of finance by creating a platform to make investing simple, interactive, and accessible while bringing in new elements of trading features.
What it does
Finverse is an AI-powered investing platform with real-time data, news alerts, paper trading, and social features, thus making finance simple, interactive, and accessible for everyone.
How we built it
We built Finverse with React 18 + TypeScript for type safety. Additionally, we integrated Yahoo Finance API with rate limiting solutions and Capital One Nessie for banking simulation. The use of Material-UI was made for clean design, custom hooks for real-time data management, and implemented error handling throughout.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was managing API rate limits, which we solved with request queuing and exponential backoff retry logic.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Undertaking such a large project in such a short time span was a feat we are really proud of. From the initiation of project ideas to the implementation into code, the process was truly a memorable one, and one that we will remember fondly.
What we learned
The use of the APIs Capital One Nessie and Yahoo Finance were new. Additionally, the process from backend to frontend process was quite educational.
What's next for Finverse
The possibilities are endless! To name a few:
- Advance the paper trading to utilize more complex strategies and models (CAPM, Black-Scholes)
- Expand the platform to incorporate Crypto and highlight ESG stocks
- Add a tutorial help section, including a beginner's guide to finance
Built With
