Inspiration
A major protest tagged ENSARS broke out in Nigeria against Police brutality, people wanted to raise money, but due to government policies, people’s accounts were at risk. At the end of the protest, there were accountability issues on how the funds raised were used. Fintrust was inspired by this event to build a platform that isn't government censored and has the ability to give governance to the people to decide how their money goes out; our aim was to build a transparent platform for public fundraising.
What it does
Fintrust is a fundraising platform utilizing the blockchain to ensure massive societal change by enabling people to create campaigns and donate funds. On the platform, funds donated are secure, and records are transparent. Campaign creators have the tools needed to manage their campaigns, add in signatories and have it before the needed audience.
How we built it
We understood the task, so we gathered a team of experts from brand identity designers, product designers, frontend developers and smart contract developers. We proceeded into brainstorming sessions to ideate on the best of ideas ranging from selecting a good name to designs then development.
Challenges we ran into
We had challenges trying to make our app entirely decentralized and also secure, we did a lot of brainstorming before we could crack the nut. We also had to use web3 storage to store the data for campaigns so no matter what happens it will be online, the first technology we deployed wasn't entirely secure.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to have been able to build the Minimum viable product within the shortest time we learned about this hackathon.
What we learned
We learnt a lot during this project individually; it pushed us to do deep research to answer the what-if questions we had.
What's next for Fintrust Wallet
We look forward to building a more sustainable fundraising platform using blockchain technology by increasing the security layers of our app and scaling it for public use.
