Inspiration
Opening an investment account can feel intimidating, especially for new investors who are unsure about financial jargon, compliance forms, or verification steps. Current platforms use long, form-based processes that create friction and drop-offs. We wanted to design a human-centered, AI-powered experience that transforms this into something fast, intuitive, and confidence-inspiring. With QuickVest AI, we reimagined what the first click into investing could look like.
What it does
QuickVest AI is an intelligent onboarding assistant that helps users open an investment account seamlessly through a conversational, guided interface. Instead of overwhelming users with long forms, QuickVest AI:
- Scans and auto-fills personal information from uploaded IDs using simulated OCR
- Guides users conversationally through each step, from identity verification to employment information, with contextual explanations
- Verifies data and ensures compliance in a user-friendly way
- Adapts to accessibility needs, supporting dark mode, large text, and voice input
- Personalizes onboarding based on experience level, risk tolerance, and goals By combining UX simplicity with AI assistance, QuickVest AI makes opening an investment account as easy as chatting with a financial coach.
How we built it
- Frontend: React and Tailwind CSS for a clean, responsive fintech-style UI
- Design: Figma mockups and user flow diagrams modeled after Fidelity’s Plynk process
- AI Simulation: Local logic mimicking LLM-style responses for personalized onboarding dialogue
- OCR Mock: JavaScript-based ID upload component that simulates data extraction
- Accessibility: ARIA roles, color contrast options, and a large text toggle for inclusivity
Challenges we ran into
- Balancing regulatory complexity (KYC, AML, FINRA rules) with a simple user experience
- Designing a chat-based onboarding flow that still collects structured data accurately
- Implementing accessibility features like voice input and high contrast without bloating the UI
- Ensuring that simulated AI responses feel natural yet predictable enough for a financial product
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Designed an end-to-end AI onboarding journey that mirrors Fidelity’s real account-opening steps but in a fraction of the time
- Created a fully responsive conversational UI prototype from scratch
- Integrated accessibility and compliance thinking into every design decision
- Built a product that is not only technically impressive but genuinely user-first
What we learned
- How to structure AI-driven user flows that remain compliant and transparent
- The importance of microinteractions and emotional design in fintech UX
- How accessibility is not an afterthought—it can be a differentiator
- How to collaborate efficiently under time pressure to turn a concept into a functional demo
What's next for Untitled
- Integrate real OCR and identity verification APIs (such as Onfido or Plaid Identity)
- Add LLM-powered conversational intelligence using OpenAI or Anthropic APIs
- Implement backend KYC/AML verification flows for real onboarding
- Conduct user testing with first-time investors to refine tone and usability
- Expand to a multi-language version to make investing truly open to everyone
