ABOUT THIS PROJECT

Traditional finance apps tell you what you already spent. FinSync tells you what you’re about to spend.

By merging your calendar life (Google calendar) with your financial documents (leases, bills, research papers), FinSync transforms unpredictable schedules into actionable financial foresight. We leverage social dynamics by allowing you to join "circles" with your friends, competing to see who can keep their expenses the lowest or holding each other accountable while saving for a group trip. This turns "saving money" from a chore into a collaborative game.

Our system predicts what you're about to spend from syncing calendar or reminders information and predicts upcoming cash outflow.

Forget to add something to the calendar or have bills that are mailed? Don't worry! You can also upload financial documents such as receipts or bills to our app and it will track it as well.

All this is enveloped using an easy to use interface complete with charts and visuals and an AI voice agent via ElevenLabs that summarizes all your information for a smooth user experience.

INSPIRATION

Inspired by RBC Nomi Insights, we sought to build on and extend Nomi to expand functionality and allow for a more cohesive insights app that offered better understanding of one's future spending, not just tracking the past. We hoped this tool helps individuals have better financial foresight so that they can make more consious and informed financial decisions in life.

TECH STACK

Built using Typescript, TailwindCSS, Next.js, HTML and the Gemini and ElevenLabs APIs.

LEARNING EXPERIENCES AND CHALLENGES

We learned a lot about UI/UX design and how to work as a crossfunctional team.

A challenge we faced was the issue of working concurrently on the same project on similar features as there were many merge conflicts and clashing code, but we were able to resolve them and figure out ways to prevent the same git issues from happening again such as better communication and planning.
