Inspiration

We were particularly intrigued by Sun Life's challenge because it incorporated an AI companion—something we had been eager to explore but hadn’t had the opportunity to in previous competitions. This challenge gave us the perfect reason to dive into this cutting-edge technology, allowing us to develop an accessible and innovative tool to assist users in need of financial guidance.

What it does

“Organization, Conversation and Education”

Finsurance is a Financial Toolkit that: -Finance budgeting tool to plan user’s future. -Friendly dolphin AI companion, Fin, trained in Sun Life Data + Budgeting Assistance to assist users when needed. -Has a financial quiz to improve users' financial literacy

How we built it

We built this web application using a React framework and typescript, and integrated it with a PostgreSQL database and a python FASTApi framework. For the AI Agent, we used Botpress and added our own tools and add-ons using it's built-in workflow.

Challenges we ran into

Throughout the competition, we faced numerous challenges, but the most persistent and frustrating was setting up the infrastructure to host our PostgreSQL database and FastAPI framework. This setup was crucial for enabling user authentication and securely retrieving stored user information for their respective accounts.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We have a beautiful front-end layout and cute mascot who acts as our AI agent with extensive knowledge on budgeting assistance and Sun Life Insurance. He provides an easy navigation through different topics seen on the website.

What we learned

What's next for Finsurance

There are countless ways we could expand both the site and the implementation of our Fin chatbot. In the future, we aim to develop new and enhanced financial tools that Fin can seamlessly integrate with, making financial guidance even more accessible and effective.
